These are the tools I’ve used in creating this website (and the thesis that comes of it).

Document production

Markdown
All documents are written in some form of Markdown, casually using the Macdown open source Markdown editor for macOS. Pandoc is used to generate stand-alone documents from markdown source. Diagrams in these documents are produced using mermaid or GraphViz.
Quarto
is an open-source scientific and technical publishing system that is used to create websites and documents in the PhD project. The pdf file is built using Mathew Topper’s thesis template (Topper 2023).
Visual Studio Code
I use various text tools but the source files are mostly edited in VS Code as an integrated IDE. Janis DD’s Edit CSV plugin is useful for text-based data file editing.
